Meera's Goodbye To Bran Could Have Huge Hidden Significance

Warning: potential spoilers for Game of Thrones will descend like White Walkers if you continue!

HBO

As we near the end of our time in Westeros, some of the best(eros) story lines are reaching their conclusions.

We’re seeing characters’ storylines converge and build slowly until we see one big massive episode of Game of Thrones awesomeness.

But that means we’re seeing slightly-less-central characters take their leave, which usually means through brutal death.

Even when it doesn't, it's pretty clear we're not going to be seeing any more of the character again, as is the case with poor Ellaria Sand.

But that wasn't the case with Meera, Bran's trusty friend and companion who was responsible for getting him back to Winterfell.

Indira Varma, who plays Ellaria, confirmed toEntertainment Weekly we wouldn't be seeing any more of her character last week after thatscene with Cersei.

HBO

In fact, most characters who exit the show give some sort of interview to Entertainment Weekly, so much so that Elite Daily called them 'the official outlet for all departing interviews with the cast as they leave the show so far'.

So what does it mean that Ellie Kendrick, the actress who played Meera, has given no such interview confirming her departure from theHBO show?

Well, Elite Daily have a theory. A theory that could have massive repercussions throughoutGame of Thrones.

HBO

In her final scene, Meera said she was heading back to her family, which obviously includes her father Howland Reed.

Those real devout Game of Thrones fans will recognise Howland as one of the valiant soldiers who we saw in Bran's flashback that helped Ned at The Tower of Joy.

So what could Howland know that only Bran knows? A little something about Jon Snow'strue identity as a Targaryen perhaps? Does that make him the only living person aside from Bran who knows this?

HBO

This brings us to the next part of the theory.

You'd think there would be no reason for Howland to cross paths with our favourite bastard, but Sansa explained why that might not be the case.

In fact, it seems entirely likely that they will cross paths sooner rather than later.

HBO

As winter sets in and the days get darker, the smaller houses (of which House Reed is one) will run out of food and supplies and will head to Winterfell to bed down for the winter.

So here we might have an indication of how Jon Snow might find out about his true bloodline, which in anybody's books is a pretty big theory.
