The fastest being in all of comics is the Runner from Marvel comics. Over 5.5 billion years old, Runner was once part of one to the earliest races to come into existence following the creation event known as the Big Bang. Developing an obsession with exploration and racing, the Runner survived his race's extinction and tapped into the Power Primordial, gaining untold power cosmic power in the process. Traveling the cosmos for billions of years, the Runner opted never to slow down, least he die.

The Runner is an Elders of the Universe, Gilpetperdon's origin is lost in the early history of the universe. It is known that he is one of the oldest living beings in the universe. Like other Elders, he is the survivor of one of the intelligent races that evolved in one of the first galaxies to form after the “Big Bang”, the cataclysmic event in which the universe was created. Although his race became extinct and even his native galaxy died as the ages passed, Gilpetperdon, like the other Elders, lived on, having become virtually immortal. As the relatively few survivors of the earliest period of the universe, the Elders regarded themselves as figuratively being brothers. The Runner said once to Silver Surfer that he is five billion years old. Notice that the Big Bang was approximately 13.7 billion years ago - thus the Runner is relatively young for an Elder of the Universe.

The Runner regularly held the "Galactic Marathon". He recruited the fastest beings in the galaxy to compete. He held a tryout for just Earth based speedsters including; Makkari, the Whizzer, Monica Rambeau, Quicksilver, Speed Demon, Super Sabre, Black Racer and Fastforward. Fastforward was declared the winner.

The "Galactic Marathon" consisted of speedster from various worlds including; Makkari and Fastforward, Fooferah, Figillulli, Startanious, Duntumbla, Huyenneyuh, Gzoom and Miximixim. Makkari won, much to the annoyance of the Grandmaster, who lost money betting on Runner.

His powers and abilities: Possession of the Power Primordial that grants: Superhuman speed, Augmentation of his physical attributes and senses. Immunity to aging and disease, Imperviousness to conventional injury via regeneration. Energy blast projection through his head, and Matter manipulation. Virtual indestructability and immortality. Ability to survive unaided in space and stimulate the pleasure centers of beings around him.

Formerly: Possession of Space Gem grants: Teleportation. Ability to destroy objects by simply passing through them at high velocities.

More depth with his powers. The Runner possesses the Power Primordial, which consists of cosmic energies left over from the Big Bang that still remain in the universe. The Runner possesses a cosmic-enhanced life force which grants him a variety of superhuman traits, including augmentation of his physical attributes and senses, a virtually immortal body, immunity to aging and disease, and imperviousness to conventional injury through regeneration. Also, the Runner can utilize his cosmic life force for a variety of effects, including the projection of powerful energy blasts from his head, and the transformation and rearrangement of matter on a planetary scale. The Runner's body has developed to survive unaided in space with no need for food, air or water. He is virtually indestructible and his durability rivals that of the Silver Surfer. He has the ability to stimulate the pleasure centers of beings around him, allowing him to influence the emotions of others and causing them to "feel good" in his presence even if he has wronged or betrayed them; this attribute may not be under his conscious control.

He appears virtually immortal and immune to aging, disease, poison, and conventional injury. Due to the Grandmaster's machinations against Death, he is unable to die. The Runner's primary ability is his speed. He can literally "run" several times faster-than-light speed under his own power by using only his legs.

It’s Wally West. I like Barry better as the Flash, but Wally is officially more in tune with the Speed Force than anyone else. Although Barry Allen generates that force, Wally West is now the fastest man alive.

And even though Barry can do everything Wally can, Wally is still faster. Barry admits as much.Every speedster’s powers have something that makes them unique. Barry can see all possible consequences and choose the best course of action. Wally 2 can dispel shadow creatures when he tries to vibrate. And the original Wally is more in tune with the speed force than anyone. Not only that, but Barry would be slower even if they both were equals. Not since his powers were tapped to empower random civilians. Taking the power back would kill those poor souls, and he just won’t do it. There are as yet two people who need to die before he can be at 100% again.

As for Godspeed, even though he was faster than Barry at one time, his speed came from his victims, all of whose powers came from Barry himself. So his speed was always less than Barry’s when Barry was at his fastest.

In my mind the answer to that is Barry Allen. While he’s not the “original” Flash, he is the one that made the name famous. Barry Allen was the fastest man alive for many years. He even sacrificed himself to save the universe and ended up in the Marvel Universe. And even in the Marvel Universe he was declared the fastest man alive.

I don’t know about you, but if a rival company is willing to call your speedster the fastest man alive that must make you really damn fast. Now, to be fair, this isn’t “canon” that he’s Barry Allen. He actually appeared again later on with his own superhero name of Fast Forward (which is stupid). But I think it’s exceedingly clear that Marvel was paying homage to Barry Allen with this character

While Wally West has some feats that surpass those of Barry, overall I still say Barry is faster. Or is capable of being faster to be more accurate. I believe it has been said that Barry is actually who created the Speed Force and that other speedsters just learned to tap into that mystical force. I’ve also heard that Barry Allen is the Speed Force, but that Wally West is the most proficient user of it. Even in that case I’d give the higher potential to Barry Allen.

All things considered though, once you have characters that can run so fast that they can cross the universe faster than teleportation, it doesn’t matter much who is faster. After that it’s all pretty meaningless to be honest. Similar with super strength, who is stronger? The one who can bench press 200 billion tons or 250 billion tons. Technically, the latter, but in practice they’re the same.

The concept of ‘speed’ falls apart when you have characters the can teleport, manipulate time, or are omnipresent.

The Flash with his speed force is a good option:

Superman is also fast, especially those over-powered version such as Superman-Prime and Thought Robot:

Quicksilver is fast, but I don’t think he is as fast as the other two:

These are the fastest I think.

Hi,

What editorial are we talking about? DC, Marvel…? in DC comics the speedsters (Flash, Kid Flash, Zoom, Reverse Flash…) obtain their powers throught the speed force and all of them are far more fasters than their Marvel equivalents (Quicksilver, The Wizzer…). And then you have the flying ones, Superman and the other kriptonians vs Black Bolt or Sentry from Marvel…

So I supose that one of the speedsters is the fastest one, but who?… it depends on the story you are reading about :P

There are plenty of Omnipotent characters in Comics and in being omnipotent (the power to do anything and everything) they have infinite speed. Such characters include The One Above All (Marvel), The Presence (DC), Elaine Belloc (DC), Lucifer Morningstar (DC), and many more. There are, however, some omnipotent beings who I am not sure whether or not they can achieve infinite speed, as they are omnipresent (already everywhere at the same time), such as the Overvoid (DC).

The honest answer is a three way Tie between Walley West, normal Runner, and Silver Surfer.

Actually measuring the speed of any of those three is silly when they can navigate Time with great accuracy. They can think a destination and be there.
