Cultists kill varsity student in Edo

Alexander Okere, Benin  Gunmen suspected to be cultists have shot dead an ‎undergraduate at Ugbor, in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The victim, identified as Tobi Ohior, was said to be a student of the Benson Idahosa University. It was gathered that Ohior was killed after he was trailed by the attackers last Saturday. They were said to have shot continuously into the air before aiming at their target, who was said to be the only child of his parents. A source, however, said that the victim was gunned down by a stray bullet during and operation by suspected armed robbers in the area. The source also noted that several persons were injured during the shooting and were already receiving treatment. When contacted, a staff of the university, who did not want his name mentioned, told our correspondent on Monday that the incident may not have officially reached the management of the institution as the students were on holidays. The staff, however, said that the university would react in due course. The Edo Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Nkombe, said he had yet to get full details of the killing.
