Man United v Chelsea

Are Chelsea about to suffer their second defeat in rapid succession?

Many predicted that the Blues would sow up the double last weekend in the FA Cup final, however the Premier League champions lost the showpiece to Arsenal at Wembley.

Now Antonio Conte’s seem set to lose another battle, this time in the transfer market, to rivals Manchester United.

What’s the story?

Over the last day or so, transfer rumours have emerged linking Manchester United with a stunning move for Inter Milan wingerIvan Perisic.

The 28-year-old Croatian has been on Jose Mourinho’s radar for quite a few months now.

But, as it stands no deal has been done and it could be a long drawn out transfer if Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is to be believed.

United & Inter still negotiating

Manchester United have offered €35m for Ivan Perisic, but Inter Milan want €55-60m for him.

Perisic and Jose Mourinho have held talks, and negotiations between Manchester United and Inter Milan have been going on for a month over a transfer.

At the same time, Chelsea are reportedly waiting in the shadows to pounce for Perisic should United’s deal go awry.

The Sun on Monday

According to the Sun on Monday, Man United are on the verge of revealing Perisic is a done deal. The tabloid tell their readers the following:

Manchester United are set to pip champions Chelsea to sign Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.

United will fork out around £40million for the Croatia forward.

Perisic, 28, has agreed a £100,000-a-week deal to make him the first arrival of what will be a busy summer at Old Trafford.

Where would Perisic even fit in at Old Trafford? And is this a smart deal?

This season Perisic has played in 53 games for club and country, scoring 15 goals and chipping in with eight assists.

For the record, Perisic is under contract at the San Siro until 2020.
