One person suspected to be a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was, on Tuesday, reportedly crushed to death by a moving truck and another injured while trying to enforce the sit-at-home order in Onitsha, Anambra State. The sit-at-home order was complied with in Onitsha, as all major businesses in the commercial city were shut down. According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, the victims, who were suspected to be members of IPOB blocked the ever busy Onitsha/Owerri road to enforce the sit-at-home order marking the 50th anniversary of the Biafra declaration. The eye witness said while standing at the centre of the main road along Lake filling station, Owerri road, Onitsha already barricaded with bonfire to effect the order, a moving up truck descending towards Owerri, Imo State, sped off out of fear of attack and crushed one of the victims to death, leaving the other person sustained leg injuries. It was gathered that the driver escaped with the truck from the scene and drove off to an unknown destination. When called for confirmation of the incident, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaulo, said his traffic department was still investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the sit-at-home order by Biafra agitators nearly record 90 per cent compliance in the commercial city of Onitsha, as all business activities were grounded with no vehicular and human movement. Joint security agents made up of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, were seen patrolling the streets of Onitsha and other strategic places in the states.
