Victor Lindelof has suggested that he wants Zlatan Ibrahimovic to stay on at Manchester United, despite the striker being released by the club.
Manchester United officially unveiled Lindelof as the club’s first summer signing on Wednesday as Jose Mourinho moved quickly to bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford.
Ibrahimovic is currently a free agent after the Red Devils confirmed that they would be releasing the 35-year-old when his contract expires at the end of the month.
However, there have been reports that Manchester United could be set to offer the 35-year-old forward a new short-term contract at Old Trafford.
And his fellow countryman Lindelof has suggested that he wants to see the veteran forward stay on at Old Trafford.
Asked about catching up with Ibrahimovic at the club because the striker is doing his rehabilitation at Carrington, Lindelof told MUTV: “It’s going to be nice to have him around to speak to him a little bit about the club and everything around it. It’s going to be good.”
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a number of top players this summer as Mourinho prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
However, Lindelof remains as their only official signing so far this summer
