Jennifer Caswell
The family of a 15-year-old schoolboy who romped with his teacher has won almost £100,000 damages from the school where the abuse occurred, Daily Star UK reports.
Jennifer Caswell, 31, was slapped with a 10-year prison sentence after she was caught in a hotel room with the teenager.
Their affair kicked off with a 15-minute sex session in a classroom.
And it soon developed into much more – with romps at his house, her home and even in her car.
Now though, two years after she was given a prison sentence, Hollis Public School in Oklahoma has agreed to fork out in a bid to settle claims that the school participated in covering up the abuse.
The boy’s dad even claimed that the school’s headmaster Marty Webb accused his son of lying, reports The Oklahoman.
He also claimed Webb told him his son “needed to keep his mouth closed” when rumours began to spread about the pair’s relationship.
Lawyer Charles Watts said: “The truth is that this has a terrible effect on a child. You can expect in his future life that he will have a hard time with relationships.”
The boy’s dad also alleged that his son was suspended by the school – a claim the school firmly denies.
Lawyer Andy Fugitt said: “The school district responded to the information it had — which was very limited – in an appropriate way.”
A lawsuit against Caswell for intentional infliction of emotional distress is still pending
