England have become world champions for the first time since 1966 after defeating Venezuela 1-0 in the Under-20 World Cup final.
Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin proved to be England's hero, scoring the only goal of the game in the first half in South Korea to make history for the Three Lions, who had Freddie Woodman to thank for saving a second-half penalty from Adalberto Penaranda.
Venezeula had given Paul Simpson's side a scare in the 25th minute when Ronaldo Lucena struck the post with a remarkable free kick from near the halfway line.
However, England moved ahead nine minutes later through Calvert-Lewin, who brought out a save from Wuilker Farinez with his first effort inside the box before striking in the rebound.
The Three Lions came close to doubling their lead 10 minutes into the second half when Josh Onomah took aim from distance, only to see his hit smash off the underside of the crossbar.
Venezuela had the perfect chance to level the final in the 74th minute when Penaranda was brought down in the box by Jake Clark-Salter, but the 20-year-old was denied by Newcastle keeper Woodman after getting back onto his feet to take the penalty, with England then holding on to secure glory.
